1) You always know what you have:

Your clothes are organized, neat and visible. You always know what you have and what you will wear. And it will be easier to pick out the outfits and put it away after doing the laundry.

2) You will save time and money:

Less clothes means less time and money spent doing the laundry. You will save energy and have more time for you doing what you love and for those you love.

3) Free space:

Free space in your home is the best you can get! It means less time cleaning, much more light and a better visual feeling of amplitude. Keep furniture away from hallways and passageways. Rooms with less furniture are much healthier!

4) Space for everybody:

If you divide your closet in equal parts with your partner you will be respecting each other’s space. Even if you don’t use all of it, it will always be yours. Creating limits for the use of space is a positive example to others.

The pros of organizing your closet and keeping it real.

The upside of a minimal closet

1) Control yourself when you go shopping for clothes:

If you saw something you loved and really want to get it, don’t do it immediately. Check your closet and see if you really need it. See also if it matches your current clothes.

Always choose quality over quantity. It is far better to have 1 item that you love than 10 that are so and so.

And if you really must get it, when you get home you need to get rid of an item so that you don’t ruin all the hard work you had and start collecting clothes again.

2) Keep scrutinizing:

Stained clothes, ripped, tainted due to washing, or any other clothes that show a problem are items that need to get out of your closet. Remember that each old item can give room to a brand new one in case you get rid of it.

Clothes that don’t fit you anymore: donate them! You feel bad each time you try it on, but for sure it will make somebody else very happy.

Items that need sewing do it now or toss it away!

Every season review your closet. Make a list if it helps you and get rid of what you never wore in the past 6 months.

You will need to be disciplined and strong!

Now that you have organized let’s keep it that way!

This flowchart will be your life guard when it comes to decide what clothes you should keep. Of course it isn't bullet proof, but for sure that it will make you think better before making a decision.

Don't know how to decide what to keep and what to toss or donate? This will help!

My easy peasy flowchart!
